Participating in the renovation of one of the world’s finest planetariums was a true privilege for Seating Concepts. Situated in the legendary Griffith Observatory, the Samuel Oschin Planetarium carries a rich history and the most spectacular astronomy experiences possible. The site has been featured in numerous motion pictures and is one of the most frequently visited landmarks of the Western United States. Pfeiffer Partners Architects renowned for designing several of the nation’s highly regarded performing arts venues and science complexes was selected to carry out this unique project. Knowing that the planetarium would require only the ultimate in seating, the design team used 300 units of our BG 900 Epic model with custom art deco back design, upholstery details and special back pitches to help the patrons enjoy the planetarium’s astronomy program on the dome screen. The combined efforts of all involved help navigate this project to be honored as one of the top 10 architectural achievements by the American Institute of America for 2008.
